There Are Dukes In My Family Tree

My great-great grandfather is Jonathan Oldham Duke.  Are you related to him, too?  If so, please leave a comment or email me cheya@ubtanet.com and let's share information and pictures.

Jonathan Oldham Duke and his second wife Sarah Thompson Duke are the parents of Almira Duke Harrison, my great-grandmother.

J.O. Duke is the son of James Duke and Mary Olldham.  He was born August 31, 1807 in Derby, England.

J.O. Duke married Mary Stone on Dec 30, 1828.  They moved to America and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints while living in New York.  They are the parents of  six children:  James, Sara Jane, John, Robert Stone, Mary Ann, and Jonathan Moroni.  Mary Ann died as an infant.

J.O. Duke married his 2nd wife, Sarah Thompson, on Oct 18, 1855.  They are parents to eight children:  Charlotte, George Jonathan, Sarah Ann, Thomas William, Elizabeth, Almira, Mary, Heber.  Mary died as an infant.

J.O. married Martha Thompson on Dec 3, 1855.  Martha is a younger sister of Sarah, J.O's 2nd wife.  They are the parents of  seven children:  Mary Ann, Charles Thompson, Jane, Joseph, Hyrum, Alma, and Emma.  Alma and Emma died as infants.
